I was a little scared to go into Weight Watchers this morning. After all, I ate anything I wanted while traveling through the best country in the world for food as far as I am concerned. I never once thought about portion control, or how many glasses of wine I had. Points only mattered when I finished everything on my plate. Whoohoo! Which I can tell you, happened every single meal. Including sopping up any sauce that was left with delicious whiter than white bread. If they brought it, I ate it. Even the little packaged bread sticks and toast.
Here is what I think made a big difference, other than all of those stairs. They eat real food. Chips were basically non existent, and they weren’t good at all. We did try them, and didn’t like them. And, there wasn’t a dip to be found anywhere. So instead of eating all of that crap at night, we just had dinner.
Another thing that I hated, but I think really worked, was that they eat lunch and dinner late. We were eating dinner between 7 and 8 at night, and by the time we got back to our hotel, we were to tired to do any kind of late night snacking. We usually had a mid afternoon snack which consisted of a glass of wine and a bruschetta. That tied us over until our supper.
I had started eating breakfast in the last year, so it wasn’t a challenge to eat our continental breakfast. What I did change was what I ate. If there was an egg, I ate that, I had plain yogurt every morning mixed with cereal, and green tea.
I have to say that I have never felt so good as when we were there. I usually have stomach issues, bloating, generally not feeling well….and it usually happens when I eat gluten. I just think I have an intolerance. Over there, nothing. I ate white pasta, bread and buns, pizza, dessert. Felt great.
So the verdict this morning at my weigh in was a gain of .6 pounds. I will take that!
And for lunch today…I bought white buns!
